10th International Conference of Maritime Law

On 27 May 2022, Prof. Ioannis Androulakis participated as a speaker in the 10th International Conference of Maritime Law organized by the Piraeus Bar Association at the Eugenides Foundation. This major, 3-day conference is organized every three years with the aim to keep track of current maritime legislation and its implementation, point out any eventual misinterpretations and imperfections, indicate the appropriate solutions and contribute to the international unification of substantive law related to shipping. The subject of this year’s conference, as selected by the Organizing Committee under Professor Lia Athanassiou, was “Protecting maritime operators in a changing regulatory and technological environment” and aimed at the presentation of both theoretical and practical approaches. Prof. Androulakis delivered a speech on “Modern risks and criminal liabilities in the shipping business”, covering among others criminal liabilities for the violation of international financial sanctions, maritime pollution and piracy. The conference, which featured a wide array of Greek and foreign experts, was highly successful and marked the beginning of the new centenary for the Pireaus Bar Association.
