On Friday 19 November 2021, Prof. Ioannis Androulakis participated as a speaker in the first event organized by the Athens Law Students’ Society at the premises of the Law School of the University of Athens (Oikonomides Hall). The topic of the event was the implications of the #MeToo Movement to the Greek criminal law and among the participants was the Olympic Gold Medalist Ms. Sofia Bekatorou, whose complaint triggered the aforementioned Movement in Greece, and criminal defence attorney Mr. Konstantinos Kakavoulis. The event culminated in a very interesting discussion with members of the public, on issues such as the adequacy of current criminal statutes, the risks related to the protection of the presumption of innocence, and whether there is a need for legislative reform.
